Welcome Week Schedule for all Homewood Full-time Graduate Students
Welcome Week is an opportunity for new full-time graduate students to become acquainted with the Homewood campus, services and policies, departments and colleagues. Prior to the start of the fall semester, graduate students are expected to attend both departmental and division-wide orientations and welcome week activities.

*Part-time Students at AAP and EP: The welcome week schedule below is pertinent only to full-time graduate students in Arts, Sciences and Engineering. Students in Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) or the Engineering for Professionals (EP) program are part-time students. Information about orientation for part-time graduate programs can be found at Advanced Academic Programs and Engineering for Professionals.

Uploading your J-Card (student ID card) photo after Friday, July 31st

There is still time for you to upload your J-Card photo prior to arriving on campus. Please note that there is no guarantee it will be available at early check-in since the guarantee deadline has passed. If your card is not available at early check-in, then you will be able to pick your card up from the J-Card office after August 20th. Log into https://my.jh.edu. You will be prompted to upload a photo or skip the process. Upload the photo you would like to appear on your J-Card.

Please Note: When the photo upload prompt is skipped, it takes 45 minutes for it to reappear. If you log out and wait, you should see the prompt again.

Welcome Week Activities:

Early Orientation Check-In
Early check-in will be held in the Office of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment, located in 28 Shriver Hall (Ground Level), on the following days:

  • Monday, August 17, 2015 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Tuesday, August 18, 2015 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Wednesday, August 19, 2015 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Come see us! You will be able to pick-up your fun-filled welcome bag and J-Card on these days. You can stop in anytime during the days and time mentioned above.

WSE New Master’s Students Orientation
The Whiting School of Engineering will be holding a special orientation program for new Engineering Master’s students (this includes fulltime MS, MSE, MSSI, MSEM, MA students, as well as combined bachelor’s/master’s students switching into their master’s status in the Fall 2015 semester)

Thursday, August 20, 2015 (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM Program, 5:30 PM- 7:00 PM New WSE Master’s Student Reception)

  • 2:30 – 5:30 PM – Welcome and Engineering Master’s Student Sessions (Internships and Alumni Employment Panel)
  • 5:30-7:00 PM -  WSE New Master’s Students Welcome Reception

International Graduate Student Orientation Program
Saturday, August 22, 2015
This program is hosted by the Office of International Services at Homewood.

TA Orientation Program (Mandatory for All NEW First-time TA’s)
Tuesday, August 25, 2015 (8:30 AM – 1:00 PM)
Hodson Hall

This is a mandatory TA orientation for all NEW First-time TA’s. This program is sponsored by the TA Training Institute. Lunch will be served.
