Shannon O'Connor, '09
“From the time I was a child, every time I heard that there had been a major advance in research, I always heard the name Johns Hopkins,” Shannon O’Connor says. “Because of that, I always knew I wanted to go to school here.”
“My research here is really cool actually,” she says with a smile. “I’m absolutely loving it.”
But life for Shannon here at Hopkins is far from confined to the lab, or biomedical engineering. Twice a week she totes her violin down to the Peabody Institute to rehearse with the Symphony Orchestra, performing in their once a month concert series. She’s also a member and the treasurer of the Hopkins Emergency Response Organization, and just became a crew chief. And she’s the treasurer, the secretary, and sits on the board of the Hopkins Medical Device Network, a collaboration of people from the school of Engineering, Medicine, and Business to work on mutually beneficial projects.
