Chris Poirier

By creating computer generated models of actual cells, Poirier and his fellow researchers can determine how real cells will react to different environments, mutations, and stimuli, making drug research quicker, cleaner, and cheaper. “The ability to obtain results faster,” says Poirier, “allows research to proceed in an accelerated rate, which allows drugs to reach the market faster. That’s where science ultimately makes the biggest impact.”

Poirier says he came to Hopkins for the brainpower. “Having such world class researchers on staff draws other world class researchers,” he says. “And if you surround yourself with excellence,” he adds, “you’ll do excellent work, too.”
